At Mindful Movements, we specialize in Therapy Through Functional Movement, benefiting diverse clients including those with sensory processing disorders, physical and intellectual disabilities, autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, mental health issues, and brain injuries. Our tailored program features multi-directional movements that engage cognitive functions, improving hand-to-eye coordination, agility, stability, strength, conditioning, and rotational movements. Participants experience heightened brain stimulation and concentration as they follow specific physical tasks in sequence. Conducted barefoot on soft mats for sensory purposes, the program also addresses foot function and gait issues.
Our Holistic Therapies
We use diverse range of holistic and movement-based therapies aimed at regulating, stimulating, and soothing the nervous system. Many of our clients exhibit heightened sensory responses, leading to constant activation of their Sympathetic Nervous System. This heightened state of “fight or flight” often manifests in various behaviours such as frustration, anxiety, stress, anger, hyperventilation, elevated blood pressure, and increased heart rate.
When in “rest and digest”, engaging the Parasympathetic Nervous System, we slow down our heart and breathing rates, reduce blood pressure, and foster a sense of calmness throughout the body.
